if there was *any* hope this would be a fun mass RvR server I'd care but its going to be a vicious grind up with PvDoor and basically arranged 8v8s with a ton of people sitting around LFG

Hope I'm wrong tho, and not that that I'd play but it would be great for the people who do. At least all the classes are supposed to work this time(??)

Is there a rogue equivalent that isn't completely hated for PvE and is still good at killing people? No experience with this game at all, and I hear assassin types are very bad first characters. I also hear that on EQ though and never regretted playing what I wanted to play, rogue, from day 1.

All assassins are disliked in PvE. This game however doesn't center around PvE. Though IMO assassins are the hardest class to play in general. Leveling can be difficult, and RvR/PvP can be outrageously difficult (if solo) until you get the hang of it. Liiike gear, weapons swapping/poisons, when to use what styles, positioning, endurance management, picking when to fight & who to fight.

Rogues (Stealthers) aren't wanted in PvE very much, and in PvP / RvR, you won't be invited to groups. Stealthers are all about the 1v1 fights where you have to know a lot of the "tricks of the trade" in order to do well because there's some incredibly skilled stealth players who have a lot of experience. It's not my cup of tea, but some people really enjoy it.

Having said that, playing a stealther in battlegrounds (pre- level 50 RvR areas) is incredibly fun. The rogues get a backstab ability, but also a frontal "BS" called Perforate Artery, which is even stronger than a backstab, and can nearly, or completely 1 shot a weak caster enemy. It's very fulfilling. It can only be activated while stealthed though, so it can be hard to pull off.

Alb will one hundred percent be the underdog at this patch level. A typical alb group will need 5 spots reserved to cover all the core abilities to make a good group vs the 4 spots hib and mid will need. Add that Alb will have no endurance regen outside potions (paladins don't have det and purge is on a 30 minute timer at this patch level) and you are at a MAJOR disadvantage.

I had a 50 paladin and cabalist on uth 1.0. I also played Alb on the Palomides server back in the day. Now that Nostalrius has close I'll be rolling here. Going mid or hib this time around.

Paladins have endu chant but they do not have determination and purge is on a 30 minute timer, meaning any have decent ccer will keep them perma mezzed.

Paladins will still be the best tanks in the game for PVE, making them great farm bots.

shadow blade can pve pretty decently with right spec
