Why would you sink that much money into PC but be on a five year refresh cycle?

I will probably do the same with this build. I see myself getting a SLI bridge down the road and probably upgrading my ram in 3-4 years.

20 year old me used to dream of working on a list like that, piece by piece each paycheck. 34 year old me decided video games are boring and a smart phone is just as good. Looks like a nice system though! Hope you like it.

Have you considered any M.2 SSD instead of SATA?
Something like: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...9SIA12K7968212

I will definitely look into this when I need additional SSD space.

Have you built your rig yet?
I would suggest a different motherboard if you plan on doing any overclocking on that 8700k. The power delivery on that ASUS board looks weak. Consider spending a little extra on a nice Z390 chipset board - they basically all have beefy VRMs because they're designed for the 9th Gen. Intel CPUs. This also means that you can drop an 8C/16T 9900k into your board in a couple years if you want and not worry about any throttling due to overheating VRMs. That Asus Z370 will support a 9900k drop in, but its power delivery WILL NOT. Honestly that VRM setup may even struggle with an overclocked 8700k.
