I would suggest creating a new partition and moving EQ to said partition. This way you maintain your game and you won't have to reinstall it or move it to/from different media.

If you are not that comfortable with managing drives and partitions, split up your EQ directory into parts, there is a way to create rar files at a max filesize (ie a bit smaller than your CD's max), I don't use Windows though or I'd give you a walkthrough.

Try Kaspersky (sp) they have a free 30day version... I had hijack issue that Malebytes couldn't resolve and Kaspersky took care of it.

You will have to do the same you did but running Windows in safe mode and deleting your recovery points so the virus can not spread anymore

Does your browser look like this? http://j-walkblog.com/images/too_many_toolbars.jpg

Do you download a ton of shit? You may have to reformat. You can also try scanning from safemode or a bootdisc and seeing if you can remove the culprit before it's too late.

Look around this forum for the post on fitting EQ on a thumb drive. Once you have that you can format freely. Also nice for travelling.

This is one big thing that's important. First boot into safe mode with networking, update all your antivirus programs. (I had Malwarebytes miss a few, running Spybot S&D atm, I run both and it covers everything pretty well).

Then use the run command and type in msconfig, click the start-up tab and look for suspicious programs that load up when you boot the PC.. Be sure you know what you're turning off first (research the name if possible)! But I've found some few are in here and need to be shut down before they can be removed.

Once everything's updated (and if possible have Spybot in), and definite malware shutdown via msconfig, reboot into safe mode without networking and run everything you just updated.

And I'm not even positive that'll do it all. If not, my most extreme measure is to boot into safe mode, and use system restore from there to go back awhile. And then do all the above just to be safe. I've never had to format for a virus yet. They are out there, but those are a little more rare and do far worse things than hijack a browser (usually!)

Hope it helps some. I feel your pain! [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

When I got shit like that, I usually do the following in that order (I'll stop once the problem has been sorted, if the antivirus has done the trick, no need to do the following):
1- Run antivirus, antispyware and antimalware
2- System restore at a point back in time (you might have to go quite far as you may have had the shit dormant on your computer for some time)
3- Format
Hope you get that sorted and are back among us soon.
