It depends what you mean by hard.
In some senses, dark souls is way easier than everquest. You can use skill to beat the game even at level 1. Everquest absolutely requires grinding. Games with sense of danger, I would say that demon souls and dark souls is pretty high, and I enjoy them a lot. That space MMORPG seems pretty painful in every aspect of its play, so that might be a top pick for you.
