that's just to name a few. a fun story is how and why the FDA was created. whatever we may think of the modern version, the origin story is special.

They're not there to be your friend or even keep you healthy. They're there to regulate how much poison you can legally have before it's a noticeable problem. Or how much rat hair and other things that go into your food be be permitted.

I am not claiming that they are. I don't have as strong opinion about it as I do the CIA, but no, I don't trust the industry-captured FDA. Still an interesting story about the horrors that went into food before regulation. I'm sure there's still a multitude of horrors but at least there's some consequences these days.
