Default New to Player on Green (Intro & some questions)

Hello Everyone,

I am new to P99 and new to Green, never played on P99 if you can believe it.

I got into EQ late back in the day, only started just before the release of LDON, so I never played "original" EQ. In the last 6 months or so I was on EQ live doing Free to Play, then paid a month subscription to join the TLP server. It was ok, but the TLP server...while fun due to the massive amount of people to group with, was also not fun at the same time, I didn't like the "race to max level" mind set and left.

That is when I decided to try P99 out for a slower pace thing, so here I am, there were some adjustments, like learning that maps are not a thing in original and since I made a human that things get super dark at night (I finally understand the line "it's dark and I can't see, danger in front of me") [You must be logged in to view images. Am now a lvl 10 Bard in Qeynos, so...some questions....
  • Do people group? I've been running around Everfrost, Karanas and Blackburrow doing my thing, with LFG on, I see people my level in the zone (sometimes even see them killing stuff), I even /OOC asking to group and I get zero replies.
  • Do people still buy Bone Chips and Spiderling Silk? What else is easily sold, stuff that low level characters get a lot of?
  • I am in EU timezone so I understand that less people are probably on when I play, are there guilds with others in EU timezone? or at least players who play during EU evening times?
  • Other tips or things about the community I should know about?

Welcome!

At this point it's not easy to find groups at lower levels. You should have better luck in Unrest or something starting in your teens. You can also /who all 15 20 or whatever to see what zones players in your level range are in. It's also not easy to make any plat at low levels, I would concentrate on just getting exp for now as the priority. I know there's a guild Europa on blue, not sure if they're on green.

The whole west side of the map is pretty deserted. Freeport will be more populated, but most people who want to group are going to be in crushbone, oasis, unrest, and mistmoore.

That attempt at a sentence shows why you mostly play with yourself.

long story short.... the server is top-heavy.
Blue is even more top-heavy.

Green was a progression server, which means it started out with nothing but base game and then over the years, slowly rolled out the expansions up to velious.
Last year(?) it reached the end of the timeline of p99.
Because of that, there's been less traction and people have moved onto other progression servers (Quarm specifically had a lot of hype around it).

Essentially it's people looking to get lucky on rare drops that they could never get and didn't know about. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I'd suggest that you should take advantage of the free and open areas on the west side of the map, less competition. Blackburrow is amazing to powerlevel up to 20+ fast, and you can do alot more groups in other more popular areas afterwards (like unrest and mistmoore).

The population mostly depends when you play as well. Early morning are usually a graveyard, evenings and late night you'll find a lot more people. (servers are east coast time)

South Karana is probably your best bet to find others on the west side of the map. KFC always has people lurking around.
