I'd hold off on any big purchases (though fungi and herbalists spade are pretty reasonable) and join a guild immediately. Once in you can chat people up, find alts to level with and probably even start raiding at 59, esp, if you're willing to get on a bot as the situation calls.

As for puggable dungeons, Velk's and to a lesser extent the hole (rats!) are other options. Another option is just cold calling 52+ shamans asking to duo.
