Either Luclin or PoP I forget.

One of the better additions to the game. But ZOMGZ cats on the moon = the devil so clearly channels are the devil by proxy.

Even so, I don't really want a game wide channel. It changes the feel of the game immensely. Howver to be fair there are many non classic things I would like to see. Soulbinders, item stacks bigger then 20 (arrows especially), experience penalties removed, etc. Theres no reason that because we want the classic experience, we can't make it a better game and keep the core. But the devs don't share that attitude at all.

Rogean makes peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. There are a lot of people who come here because we want to eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

If what you really want is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, hold the jelly, add bananas, honey, cinnamon, deep-friend.... then may I direct you to the eqemu source code on http://www.eqemulator.org/

From there, you can get all the information you need to start your own server with whatever rules and options you want.

Rogean makes what Rogean makes, take it or leave it.

Rogean is undoubtedly ultra important to the server, but you really can't call this Rogean's solo creation. People like Nilborg(!) and Kanras can't possibly be left out of the equation. There is also a whole list of past contributors that helped create what we have today.

I agree completely with the tenor of your post though.

Certainly not intended to exclude the other devs... mad love to Nilbog, Kanras, and everyone else that has contributed here as a dev. There are an immense number of man hours in this server, and I'm grateful for every one of them. The rhetorical device just worked better talking about one guy.

xp penalties is what seperate EQ from the watered down games out there.

It makes you consider your attack methods. Without it, you can just run in and try anything to see if you can do it or not with no consequences.

I think he's talking about the xp penalties on certain classes & races.

The reasoning behind the penalties were kind of stupid and definitely didn't make the game better. Frankly speaking without AA's you have a game where 3 classes are barely used (which lets be honest wasn't classic... back in the day there were tons of hybrid melee). Frankly we need to add some limited AA's or directly modify certain classes so they can be competitive. Otherwise you end up in a situation that you're keeping all the faults that SOE eventually fixed under a banner of nostalgia.

Also no maps is kinda stupid too (oh but it makes it classic)... not really because all everyone did was alt tab to look at a map... so alt tab versus hitting M.

You can add quality of life changes and still be considered classic. I know I'm a radical here and all lol.

There are a lot of emu eq servers out there. Some of them have large populations too..

I think P99 has the largest from what i've seen.

but if you are dead set on global chat can try another.
