To anyone on the fence of whether or not to do this... it was amazingly simple, and a HUGE difference. Just follow the OPs instructions. Two thumbs up!

I don't know what I am doing wrong. I followed the guide step by step. Went into EQ options all options are good, don't have texture compression checked.

I even deleted everything after it didn't work and reinstalled the s3d's and still no changes. I WANT the newer skins. So all of the skins are checked.

Don't know where I am going wrong.

Hey can you make one for the toons to be played in as well? or is that something they would have to do ?

When I loaded these textures my wolf form gets messed up, no animation and some wolves appear as humans too. Can I use the new textures and get my wolf to still not be bugged?
What textures would I need to use from the older files?
