I actually liked the free legacy loot. But somehow that wasn't enough for some people and then things got a bit too goofy even for me.

instancing and legacy loot changes months in are great custom content ideas, even better when they are a spooky surprise so we could login at Halloween to really get that permanent raid logged ghost town atmosphere.

Go to eqemulator and check forum (and discord) and search for "making my own server", refine search terms to "I wanna make it stop at <insert expansion>" do I just enable expansion number in server_rules?
Short answer: Yes! But it will use all current server code. Combat, saves, pet power etc. Enjoy.

Long answer: Nope! followed by 50,000 extra steps requiring c++, mysql and perl/lua coding skillz.

<highschool_coder> pipes in with takp has released the DB! Should be easy blah blah. They will be shot down by the 3 or 4 actual coders that frequent the forums pointing out there are thousands of changes needed to bring a server up to era correctness.

So, go do it and see ya never.

Truth. I toyed with the idea of making a classic server ... yeah it's literaly years of dev time to pull it off. Even with the latest EQEmu era stuff they've put in and TAKP db. If you want it correct to the level P99 staff have gotten it, it might be ready in time for us to play it at the nursing home.

Only true legacy item is a guise cause they're no-drop. You can always just buy a stupid manastone if you really want one that bad, but you're never gonna look like my dark elf monk no matter how much you try.
