maybe the problem isnt cancel magic but pets taking agro. like i said if you send your pet at a mob while sitting down, the mob darts after you until a round of melee or 2 from your pet is done. not sure how it was in classic but how live is now, pets hold agro p good.
also what triggers cancel magic to agro something if there is no hate value. and lastly is that spell data classic or current? i think there is a classic spell database floating around.

on classic mobs always attacked if you sat down. It was actually a common strat to sit then stand right before it got to you then sit again when it got back to pet.
As far as initial aggro, if you pull with a damageless, hateless spell, the mob of course will start coming at you but anything at all could take aggro from you as long as it was something that did damage or had hate. Even if it was a resist or a miss it would still grab aggro. Spells that do damage dont generate hate because the damage itself generates the hate. But spells that do no damage have a hate modifier. Dispell and malosini spells have 0 hate. Tash does 350 hate i believe. Darkness doesnt have a hate modifier but it does damage so it builds more and more hate as it ticks. My pet has no problem taking the mob off me when I cast darkness on it. With cancel magic it has a hell of a time taking aggro off me. It should be the other way around.

It's like walking into aggro range of a mob but not doing anything else to it... you get on the hate list but at a 0 value... basically, the mob just knows you exist.
