Summer school is never for the smart kids. It is usually for the gamers/flunkers that don't want to get an internship or go the social route and travel.

Either you get excited that real school is out and you can take 1 or two classes, pretend to be productive, and sit around and play a game 24/7 or you are trying to make up time because you took too few hours or flunked out of too many classes the semester before.
One of these days you'll figure out how college works for advanced classes and realize that, in order to not spend 8+ years getting a degree in something worth a damn, you'll take summer classes. Something for you to ponder while you and your mom sit and try to figure out how to get the grease stains out of your fry cook shirt.

Blah blah blah
I'm above a 3.5 GPA at a ARWU top 25 school... but yea, taking classes because I'm a big failure.... OR I take them because I want to graduate with a double major in 3 1/2 years instead of 4 and get a start on grad school. Could go either way though I guess. Way to throw out broad, and wildly incorrect generalities.

Wow, Loke, all that education and you never learned that "summer school" often refers to remedial education in elementary/middle school? Fun fact: remedial education is a euphemism and not something to boast about.

Shame on you for your assumption. With such a high GPA I would've expected that you learned all this already.

Often times, young adults share the same experiences of such things like college and consequently the dreaded compressed summer classes in attempts to maintain or expedite their progress in obtaining a professional degree.

Seeing as how the majority of the population of this server tends to lean more towards the adult age, the expectation of the intended definition of the words used would also lean towards these shared experiences. That's a pretty reasonable assumption and the amount of trolling in this rants and flames thread is subpar.

^ Sadly, you're under the impression that the verbal diarrhea you just spewed made you sound educated. Another fun fact: the most important aspect of communication is clarity. In this regard you failed miserably.

That said, I did parse your message — and no, your assumption is not a reasonable one. There is no reason to believe that a "majority" of this server is of one age group or another, and again, it's pretty clear in the context of my original post that the "summer school" I was referring to was of the remedial variety.

If I may expand on this just a bit further, you should remove the stick from your ass at your earliest convenience.

Actually... I moved from KY to Ohio years ago - in high school. My JR. High in KY offered a year early Algebra I class so that as a Freshman you could jump right into Geometry, then AlgII/Trig and Pre-Calc your Junior year, as a more advanced Calc class was offered that route.

However; the Ohio school I went to didn't 'recognize' that 'credit'. But.. in order to allow me to progress as needed and not bore me with a whole additional year of Algebra I, they allowed my to take a summer school class of Algebra I to 'get the credit' officially in Ohio. The teacher and I knew, all that was expected of me was to turn in some homework and take the tests.

I was pretty nerdy at the time, to be honest. The summer class was a silly breeze.

But since I was in a new school system, I was happy to just hang out for the 2 hours a day to get to know some people. Ended up making a few friends which in turn got my attention more focused on girls and weed [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

But I still did ok [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] - but wasn't quite as nerdy after that, lol.

So.. yeah - its' possible a summer class, even in High School is more than just 'make up'.
