you guys still stuck in 1999?

this is how the industry monetizes now.

the whole $9.99 subscription for an MMO with no clear objective and is based on long-term grinding and building a large community of subscribers is long gone.

Yep, I am still stuck in 1999.. that's why I play p99 [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Honestly though, Daldaen is right, I see his point 100% The fact of the matter is, I am not paying for something that I will dislike a lot of the options, when I am getting something I completely love, for free.

I'm pretty sure a lot of people here still use AIM, so yes.

Anyway, that thread is a fun read. People QQing about 6 months of classic, not being able to play the race they want, and especially instancing. Should be fun to check in every now and again and see how they're handling world bosses compared to how we'd done it here.

They did mention they liked the idea of a Quarm named server but they were saving that for another use.

I'm inclined to believe they are going to make a PoP era locked server with the name Quarm, a true Classic EQ server. If that's the case then you can complain about a lot of on-classic things they do. I hope they do it well with the proper client and everything, but I have a fear they will just Marketplace the crap out of it. Microtransactions killed MMOs. Not instancing or fast travel, just their dumb cash shops with dumb costumes, exp potions, big bags and the other nonsense they offer.

This pretty much sums up why I play here.

I paid Sony long enough to play on Live for the 13 years i did. Never going back to live or to any progression type servers because it wont be anything like p99 until daybreak buys the code and opens their own version and shuts this one down :P

Bunch of hipsters up in here. I'll play on it for the experience. It probably won't be better than p99. But I'll enjoy it for what it is.
