It has to do with the textures default color underneath the tint. Use thurgadin armor as your base look. The chain bits that join the armor together remain the same color. This look is specifically bad looking for high elves and maybe erudites (as i have never seen erudite thurgadin plate).

This makes sense, yet when I took the base RGB values from High Elf and Erudites textures and blended them with the RGB value for Shining Armor, it should still be blue.

I believe this is related to the dynamic lighting that is present with directx8/9+.

If you notice, bronze, valorium, lustrous russet etc also have differing tints.

Here's a thread with some screenshots:

I'm not sure how this is fixable without client magic to disable directx lighting.

Bumping this. seems to be an issue with plate classes where thier normal "colorless" plate graphic is yellow. when they equip a "colored" plate item the yellow from the base persists and "mixes" with the new color. This is why you see high elf clerics with skyshrine armor that is green instead of blue (blue and yellow together = green) and a high elf bard in skyshrine armor that looks brown instead of grey (three or more color combos = brown) in the bards case that is yellow + grey.

the base color for high elf velious plate is gold, not grey/white like most races

a grey tint on gold makes it a dark gold aka brown

a light blue tint on gold makes it a dark green
