It is because our world has gotten so small with instant media. It has been happening for along time now everyone and there little sister has a camera and access to post it for the world to see.. Sad but true.

Look up what the Roman Catholic church did to "Judaisers" in the middle ages. or what was done to people in the Colosseum 1500 or so yrs ago. Or even the way punishment is handed out in many Arab countries today. For that matter look at historical books of what the ancient Babylonian and Assyrian empires did to their captives.. they'd attach hooks into their slaves mouths so they couldn't run off and skin prisoners alive to the delight of the public. Hell, even in America is wasn't long ago that we had public hanging with popcorn being sold at the events.

There's always been people doing terrible things to others, it goes back to the beginning of time. The problem is the media doesn't give a shit when you help an old lady cross the street, they would rather see you steal her walker and push her in front of a bus.
