What do you need money for?

Honestly, your initial gear setup is relatively cheap:

1) Full set of Wu's - 400p from the right seller
2) Wu's Quivering Staff - 400-500p from the right seller

That'll easily get you to 30+.

If you know what you're doing, you can pretty easily make this by level 20 on HQ bear skins, bone chips, and willowisp stones (greater stones given to the gypsy in NK for the 9pp sellable book, regular stones vendored).

Now, since you're already level 21 (and EQ isn't an easy game if you don't know a lot), you could farm the gnolls/gnoll reavers in EK for small exp and bronze weapons/raw hide, sellable to the vendors nearby.

Other than that, my recommendation is to live in upper guk - get a group where you have someone else taking the hits and stock up gems/cash/sellables. Your weight is pretty irrelevant if there's a tank in the group.

Once you're in your mid-late 20s, a surprisingly good place to group for both $$ and exp is the sarnak fort in LoIO...Plenty of twinks there too.

If you can actually find people grouping in High Keep (you should be 24+ to actually be a benefit to the group), that's also a very rich area - it's probably the best exp for mid-late 20s, it's just there aren't many spawns so it's not good if there is more than one group...

Monk is awful at farming $$$ for obvious reasons, you should focus on grouping up and exping instead. The $$$$ will come by default when you get higher levels and good shit starts dropping.

Always wondered if the weight restriction on monks wasn' initially of way to reflect the poverty vow that monks take in our world.

Thanks for the suggestions. All my money leading up to level 20+ was from newbie yard, blackburrow gnoll teeth quest, and greater lightstone quest. But now those mobs do not yield experience and just haven't found a replacement for experience giving mobs that commonly drop lightweight items that either sell for good coin or can be turned in for good coin. Currently I just log on, attempt to find someone who can summon me some bags, and then go hunt Dark Elf guards for exp and bronze weapon drop. Looking forward to High Hold Keep. By the way, I made level 22 last night. Up to 156 platinum from selling the bronze weapons. And so far I've had good fortune in finding someone within 30 minutes that gave me a few summoned bags.

weight does effect your AC and at lower levels it may seems to be drasticly effecting you but once you level up and your AC is high then the loss of AC seems almost irrelevant.

My first char on live was a monk and first char on P99 was a monk as well. Good way to start off it definitely using those 100% WR bags. Couple things tho. Don't put anything of importance in them - only your loot from kills, no personal gear, etc. And ask nicely for someone to duel and kill you to save the WR bags for your next grind sesh [You must be logged in to view images. Not true because being over the weight cap as a Monk affects your Defense SKILL. And your Defense SKILL directly correlates and scales with the amount of AC you get from your equipment. So the higher your Defense skill is and the higher your level, the more your AC will be impacted by being over the weight cap.

I didn't know you didn't lose experience from that. Good tip!

If you have the patience for it, try to raise your tradeskills. You can make good money at any level. I am only level 9, don't have any high level characters to fund me, and I'm making hundreds of plat with handmade backpacks/bearksin potion bags. It is actually pretty cheap to raise tradeskills if you know how to do it.
