The idea was to encourage group dependent classes which also happens to be important classes for raiding. Group exp ended up boosting the number of melee and clerics quite a bit.
You make it sound like that's a good thing. (Raiding)

I wonder if r99 didn't make grouping so easy that there wouldn't have been such easy raiding guilds formed. Ie craptons more solo classes = less established raiders and more chaos in the fields/spawn competition, instead of raiding. Ya you'd have lesser pixels, but there'd be more chaos and small guilds scrapping.

Could empire have become a thing if people rolled necros and druids instead of tanks and clerics? It's a lot harder to feed a guild like empire when there's not so many warm bodies to fill necessary slots.

I'm sure it was.

Im also sure that if you didn't need to mass recruit, you wouldn't have.

No one leads a guild that large for funsies.

People were rolling classes they liked and then just quitting because they couldn't level or progress. You are not going to find a dev that wants to put together an EQ server that caters to you playing solo. Hardcore players will still PL their friends to utilize best end game classes but the idea was to give casuals or new people to the server a path if they wanted to play group depended classes and it actually worked.

Sorry this impedes on your play style but luckily no one depends on your play style, meaning no one cares if you are upset.

Am I going to be happily leveling and suddenly be ganked for no reason other than "PvP".
If so I'm not interested.

I'll be staying on Blue, you really are all that retarded. Enjoy your dead server.
"Blue server players don't try pvp because the red community is toxic"

blue guy asks question that is answered honestly (IS THAR PVP?), then responds by calling everyone retarded

+ will probably go tell all his blue friends that everyone on red is retarded

Enjoy your safe space and never knowing how hollow this game is when you schedule camp times instead of fighting for them + the only purpose to your gear progression is to get marginally better at killing braindead NPCs.

Seems like the ole Sparrow is gonna go down, and he's gonna bring a lot down with him.

He might get away if he's got some homemade PF Flyers or some Jordan's.

who is the most retarded, the idiot who throlls a thread, or the idiot who judge an entire server population based on 4 people from arguebly the most toxic forum on the planet?

That said, pvp happens for the sake of pvp, and some of them are level 20 with fungis and raid weapons. It will suck sometimes, but not most of the time.

funniest thing about blue server players criticizing red for being toxic or "retarded deathmatch", etc., is that it's much closer to traditional RPG design than blue is

you crawl dungeons on red and there's an element of surprise and unpredictability (because players may attack you or show up unannounced) to the experience

you might (/gasp) have to improvise or actually react to something other than predictable NPC pathing
