Of the two, which one is more suited for mostly solo leveling?
if you can find undead spots, cleric can do as well as a wizard solo. otherwise, wizard; but be prepared for long long downtime (30 second kills, several minute downtime) i suggest a race with hide, since that is superawesome for safe medding

I can definitely recommend Druid for a starting class. As a new player you will want to explore a lot and the ports and Spirit of Wolf help a lot in that respect, plus you can solo well without much of a gear requirement and without the complicated playstyle of class like Enchanter or Necromancer.

The other class I would recommend is Magician for a simple play style.

I would recommend against Enchanter or Necromancer due to complexity and against Shaman due to it being a very late-blooming class (34+)

Without Pet Window, Mage is far from "simple play style". Lots of macros to create to make the pet work. Same with Necromancer.

You can solo with almost all classes. Some better, some less. Cleric, Warrior, rogue should be avoided as a new players being solo often.

Having to set up 4 one-line macros doesn't mean it's not a simple class to play. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Its easy to NOT solo.

And it takes some time to SOLO a cleric but its totally fine. I did it for most of my career because of my bad play hours and life style.

Go with your favorite class.

Thanks for all the wonderful advice. I'm going to have to re-load the game as I had to reinstall Windows this last weekend. Think I will start with a druid on the Green server. I will no doubt look up those great guild suggestions once I get my feet wet a bit.

Sounds fun. Druid is an amazing class.
