Cowboys fan, and I wanted the Seahawks to win all the way. The pats aren't a great team. The way they beat Baltimore was a chicken shit tactic that shouldn't even be allowed in high school games. "I know, let's line up our linemen to be eligible receivers!" No shame.

Oh and being a cowboys fan sucks ass. They get by Detroit on that BS call only to have Murray fumble a game clinching touchdown against Green Bay lol

Why shouldn't it be allowed? Football is all about scheming and being smarter than your opponent. Don't be dumb as fuck and cover Vereen (RB I know, but I figured you'd get to this example next) when the Ref reports him as ineligible. Or cover the lineman that gets reported as eligible.

Also let's not ignore the fact that the report also stated that four of the Colts balls weren't properly inflated either.

They're not going to do shit to the pats or Brady outside a minor slap on the wrist. If you actually think the NFL wants the first game of the season to go on without Brady at the helm so all anyone is talking about before, during, and after the kickoff to the 2015-2016 season is deflategate and the superbowl winning team cheating yet again you don't watch much football.

They actually did break the rules, though. When you make a declaration of an ineligible receiver as being eligible, you're supposed to give the defense time to adjust. The grace period was not enforced (either by oversight of the refs/Ravens or Patriots abusing their lack of familiarity with the rules). Once somebody did tell the Ravens the rules, the Patriots stopped doing it.

I'm guessing 4 game suspension for Brady which will be appealed down to 2 games.

Yeah he got the crap beat out of him in '14. Hopefully this year will be a little better.

They should have just had Ray Lewis stab the receivers. I hear he's good at that.

In the court of public opinion, this report, on the surface, looks to be very damning indeed. Until you start peeling back the layers and the entire thing falls apart. We live in America, where you are innocent until proven guilty. However, this inalienable right doesn’t seem to be afforded to the Patriots, as most of the ‘evidence’ provided is circumstantial and would never hold up in a real court.

It seems painfully obvious after an objective reviewing the ‘findings’ that the Wells firm was given a conclusion, then were told to investigate to find facts to support it. Numerous reports and leaks that came out in the weeks after the investigation started were debunked (1) or subject to multiple interpretations, indicating either a negligent lack of oversight in the investigation or, even worse, as suggested above, that the conclusion was drawn and the Wells firm was given a direction and line of questioning to follow, rather than to run the investigation as a neutral third party.

Let’s then start with an easy statement of fact, that the NFL hired the Wells firm. The league is a significant client of the Wells firm, both in terms of press coverage and billings. It then is not an unreasonable assumption that the firm would then like to keep this client. What easier way to keep a client than to provide them with a report that ‘substantiates’ the claims that are in the league’s best interest?

The whole thing started based on a claim from the Colts that the Patriots were allegedly cheating by using less air in the balls, agreed? What does it say about the culture of the league and the NFL as an organization, that, prior to the game, the game officials, the Patriots organization, or league officials were notified of this prior to the game? This more than suggests that the league cooperated with the Colts in a sting operation. The Wells report buried this issue on page 46 in a footnote.

Overall, and now I’m going to start inserting opinion, I think the whole investigation is a witch hunt designed to tarnish the legacy of the greatest quarterback, coach, and organization in NFL history, based purely on jealousy and spite out of their continued and long term success.

Go Pats. Fuck the haters, we’re on to Green Bay.

PS. I’ll end by adding my own footnote, that the scientific agency hired by the Wells firm, Exponent, also concluded that second-hand smoke doesn’t cause cancer, and has often times reached questionable conclusions for their large clients. (2)

PPS. Fuck the Jets, they cheat more than the Patriots. (3) (4)
