Magelo doesn't have kill data isolated just from Velious though. Also, it's not a good resource for drop % on no drop quest items because I'm pretty sure it only counts looted items or at least requiring you to keep the loot window open for long enough to the Magelo sync tool to catch it (a few seconds based on their instructions).

In the past 15 years, I wonder how many times VS has died and the old epic quest items left to rot or corpses not even checked except to quickly loot droppables which has polluted the overall drop %.

Not just for VS, I wouldn't trust Magelo for ANY no drop quest items from classic era quests that have no importance on Live servers any longer. Like this upcoming quest item, the Undead Dragon Sinew: http://eq.magelo.com/item/6478

Even Magelo says the drop % may not accurately reflect the actual drop chance in game.

Nilbog the VS on Magelo doesn't have any way to differentiate the Venril Sathir and the Venril Sathir (Fake - Druid Epic) when entering into their system.

For example that VS shows 120 Pulsing Green Stones out of 328 loot entries. I'm fairly certain it doesn't properly account for double drops as well.

So in actuality, you have either 208 VS Kills (if it doesn't account for double drops), or 268 VS kills (by subtracting the 60 double stone fake VS logs).

122/208 = 58.6%
122/268 = 45.5%

That being said, again Magelo isn't the most reliable system.

I know that was EQMac, but 12 / 19 Venril Sathir's had staves and it is quite possible a few more dropped the staff without me mentioning a rot or trying to loot it.

It *is* possible he didn't have a staff. But as I do comment, I found it peculiar he didn't have a staff on that one kill. I don't think I'd seen a staff less one up to that point.

Something to the tune of 80% is honestly probably around what it was on Al'Kabor, and I can't see any evidence that suggest there was an uptick at some later date. There are posts on EQClerics which I posted in an earlier thread that mention VS has around this 80% drop rate, when the cleric is talking about a long VS rotation on their server. It should be around that 80% number here on P99.

Unless I missed something, Venril Sathir does NOT drop the Staff every time. It's common (in the neighborhood of 3 Staves per 4 kills) but you are NOT guaranteed to get it.

VS is one of the FEW mobs that is on a strict Rotation on my Server. Every 2 or 3 months, your turn comes up and you kill him.

I look forward to reliving the classic "I've killed 20 Phinigels and still no Blue Crystal Staff" woes from wizards now instead of the Gnarled Staff ones of late.
