That's kind of messed up. It's freaking 8 ac with +5 cold save... Was that really necessary? I'm not twinked, that was my one decent looking item. Now I'm stuck wearing a brown diaper. No grandfathering that item through? #Bullshit!

Item Removal: Several items that should not have been in the game prior to the Temple of Solusek Ro have been removed from inventories.

Wow was that announced months ago? I didn't see anything. I spent hours camping those items for multiple characters. It's kind of poor taste to remove items you mistakenly added. What's it matter if people spent hours camping them before or after the quests were added? They spent the time either way.

I feel for you but they have been doing stuff like this since launch. If you go through all the patches from day 1 you'll see they removed several out-of-era items without warning.
