If those people are so informed about what a server should be, why isn't there a server made by them?

That's right. Because they're clueless morons. Salty has never even been a part of EQ that wasn't progression or VZTZ. That is the level of retard you are claiming needs to be listened to. Your idea of a good server is 50 in 3 days, boxing, rampant exploiting, cheating, almost no pathing, selos working indoors, GMs giving people items, etc. I mean the list goes on about how huge of a joke your idea of a good server is.

I always get a chuckle from these doom n gloom posts. Server failed, burn it down. Yadda yadda.

The server "failing" has little to do with the admins, or actions taken in game. Could it have been a smoother launch? Most definitely, the guard assist not being turned on was pure shit-- but you know what? the people who really wanted to play, played through it.

The 500-600 people at launch was such a bloated unrealistic number, and is so unfair to compare the number today to that number. Out of those 500 people, 250 of them were probably from blue (pre epic), 100 of them were probably different players who saw a new server on the list from Hidden Forest, and EZ Server, etc, that's 350 player pop that really never had any intention of being on the server for the long run. I would say maybe, maybe in the whole world you may find 200 single boxed people who are interested in playing EQ emu pvp, 50 of those were probably players from old EQ PvP live servers who were in it for the short term for nothing more than the initial nostalgia factor. Nostalgia wears off, new games such a Star Wars, Tera come out, and wala they disappear.. this isn't a conspiracy folks, these are the facts of wanting to be part of a 13yo emu community on a PvP server which is a minority.

Now, you're left with 125-150 people who would play EQ PvP hardcore long term, 25 or so of those in Holocaust quit. Server has been out for 6-7 months, I'm totally not suprised to see the population where it is today, even the most dedicated players I've met on the server are burnt and bored of classic and excited to try the new games coming out. I don't see how any of this is the admin's fault, get over it. As soon as D3 comes out May 15th and GW2 and we get another 25 person population drop primetime I suppose people will really be calling for the server to be shut down then? Relax, people will come back as the novelty of those new games wear out.

Funny you should say that. I've been in Nihilum since late December with absolutely no association to the guild leaders and officers prior-- I was shocked to see their level of knowledge and tactics compared to other guilds.

You know. Have the tank position a raid mob away from the raid force, and position the raid force away from the powerful area effect spells so you only should be healing 1 target, the main tank. I was SO impressed by the use of these tactics, since I have never seen them before.

All jokes aside, in months of raiding I have never seen them position a mob where it doesn't melee/attack anybody with agro, EVER. All the nagafen fights I have participated have been with Nagafen in Naggy's lair, and either the tank or the entire raid group in the lair with him. In fact, the times I've seen mobs get stuck in walls we have been promptly ordered to camp off agro and reset the fight. I don't know where these rumors started, or if they did it initially when the server was fresh but to credit all their raid kills for the last 6 months to 'cheating' is absolutely insanity and giving the game mechanics far too much credit, game raid mechanics in classic EQ are an absolute joke.

Every new thread about why this server fails just adds to the fire. There are some things that can be done which we hope will add to the population but 5 new threads a day about this server failing surely does not.

Everyone has given their version of what will help the server. You know what really helps the server? Posting less negativity and playing more. If you don't enjoy it anymore then take a break and come back to it when you feel that you can. These boards reflect the server and with all this negativity the only thing that is accomplished is keeping new players away. The first thing I do and I am sure many others do before trying a game is check out their forums.

If I was a potential new player to R99 and I checked out these forums first, I probably wouldn't even bother downloading EQ. I log in, I have fun, and I try to get as many people I know to play the game, veterans to EQ or not. Do that instead of spreading this crap and the server will rebound.
