Default Hearthstone Deck List's and Ranked Play Discussion

This rogue deck has served me well. Took me from Rank 7 to 3 Star rank 3 in one day. It does extremely well against the current meta and counters the warlock murloc decks pretty efficiently with fan of knives. Not that expensive either with only one legendary. I highly recommend this deck due to its stability and how fun it is to play.

Minion (23)
1x Bloodmage Thanos (Can replace with Sylvanas Windrunner or Faceless Manipulator)
2x Argent Commander
2x Azure Drake
2x Defender of Argus
2x SI:7 Agent
2x Dark Iron Dwarf
2x Defias Ringleader
2x Harvest Golem
2x Loot Hoarder
2x Gnomish Inventor
2x Shattered Sun Cleric
2x Novice Engineer
Ability (6)
2x Eviscerate
2x Backstab
2x Deadly Poison
Weapon (1)
1x Perdition's Blade

This mage burn deck shits on everything but warlock rush decks. You will have trouble with them unless you draw a good first hand. If you are facing a lot of rush decks in your rank then you can switch one or two arcane intellects with some blizzards. The general strategy is to survive long enough to be able to do things like chain combo with a sorcerer apprentice/frost bolt/ice lance/ice lance / fireball / fireball (or another frost bolt). Pyroblast is the best finisher in the game and is invaluable during late game to end the match or take out a Ragnaros the Firelord so that you can survive to cast that game winning spell chain next turn. Try and maintain board control by using your minions to clear your opponents. Cast fireballs on the hero and save frost nova's to combo with ice lance for 7 damage for 2 mana.

Minion (13)
1x Bloodmage Thalnos (You can replace bloodmage with a nat page or if you don't have either a kobold geomancer will do.)
2x Coldlight Oracle
2x Leper Gnome
2x Loot Hoarder
2x Mana Wyrm
2x Sorcerer's Apprentice
2x Novice Engineer
Ability (17)
2x Ice Block
2x Pyroblast
2x Ice Lance
1x Flamestrike
2x Frost Nova
2x Frostbolt
2x Mirror Image
2x Arcane Intellect
2x Fireball

I got a beta invite to this. They make you buy cards? I am a avid mtg player but I don't wanna pay for a beta.

You have the option to buy packs (You will keep your cards when game goes live) with money or gold. You earn gold by completing daily quests, winning games or winning in the arena. As a new player you can get a decent start without spending a dime just by doing these simple things.

First Blood Complete a game in Play or Arena mode. 1 Card Pack
The Duelist Play 3 games in Play or Arena mode. 100 Gold
Ready To Go Unlock every hero. 100 Gold
Level Up Get any class to level 10. 1 Card Pack
Enter The Arena Enter The Arena 1 Arena Credit (Free Round)
Crushed Them All! Defeat every expert AI hero 100g
Got the Basics! Every hero to 10 (Collect all basic cards) 100g

You can't sell cards on... massive drawback to the game, its a 100% $$-sink. At least with MTG you can eBay cards/decks you don't use anymore.

I haven't played in awhile cause I really didn't like the direction they were going with the last patch.

I'll try to remember my deck...

x2 Soulfire
x2 Flame Imp
x2 Argent Squire
x2 Blood Imp
x2 Voidwalker
x2 Demonfire
x2 Knife Juggler
x2 Loot Hoarder
x1 Ironbeak Owl
x2 Shattered Sun Cleric
x1 Blood Knight
x2 Dark Iron Dwarf
x2 Defender of Argus
x2 Pit Lord
x2 Doomguard
x2 Argent Commander

Really wanted to replace the x2 Pit Lord with Leeroy Jenkins and King Mukla but grinding the dust to craft cards is fucking dreadful. No trading system is one of the things that kinda ruined the game for me.

I ran this Rogue Deck (exactly the same cards oddly enough before you posted it) up to Rank 12. Basically with this deck if you do not win by Turn 8 you are fucked. It is very difficult to beat Warlock Rush decks/Priests/Paladins/Druids. Experienced players with control decks will destroy you after Turn 8/9.

Ended up making a new deck and it seems to be working decent. Still having problems with fucking Druids, I hate them. Went from Rank 12 to Rank 10 in a couple hours last night, could have just been a fluke though. This deck is a bit better in late game power, ran the two Druids I played out of cards but still lost. Afraid it still needs a couple Legendaries or 5+ Minions. I only have Ysera, Black Knight, Shaman Wind Lord, BloodMage, and Harrison Jones.

Minions

1x Argent Squire
2x Defias Ringleader
2x Loot Horder
1x Novice Engineer
1x Harvest Golem
2x Scarlet Crusader
1x Shattered Sun Cleric
2x SI:7 Agent
1x Dark Iron Dwarf
1x Defender of Argus
1x Gnomish Inventor
2x Silvermoon Guardian
2x Azure Drake
2x Argent Commander
1x Sunwalker

Abilities

2x Backstab
2x Deadly Poison
2x Blade Flurry
2x Eviscerate

Blade Flurry can win you a lot of games and is undervalued in my opinion.

1/2 Weapon Equiped at start of Turn
Drop 2x Deadly Poison
Attack 5 Damage
Blade Flurry 5x AE
10 Damage on Hero plus 5x AE on Minions for 4 Mana (6 Mana No Weap)

The mage burn deck has been working wonders for me as of late. I can't tell yall how many times I won a game by having ice block activated and then pyroblasting the next turn (usually turn 8 or turn 7 if I saved my coin). I am 11-2 the past two days with that mage deck at rank 3.

For anyone who is interested this is the murloc rush deck. Extremely hard to counter unless you are vs a paladin (pretty much your only weak match up.. although druids can give you trouble too). Aim to end the game by turn 7.

Minion (29)
1x Old Murk-Eye
2x Murloc Warleader
2x Coldlight Seer
2x Knife Juggler
2x Murloc Tidecaller
2x Young Priestess
2x Abusive Sergeant
2x Blood Imp
2x Flame Imp
2x Leper Gnome
2x Bluegill Warrior
2x Grimscale Oracle
2x Murloc Tidehunter
2x Murloc Raider
2x Voidwalker
Ability (1)
1x Soulfire

Hearthstone is a CCG - Not a TCG. You have the option of never spending a dime on a pack or arena entry by just farming gold. Not spending RL cash is not an option for MTGO. Expect to drop at least 100.00+ USD on magic cards to be able to compete in even the slightest fashion. MTGO is a really fun game and they both fill certain niches in the market but Magic The Gathering is hands down the more expensive game. See : http://www.ebay.com/itm/Jace-The-Min...-/291048068839

legacy is by far more expensive than standard, but yeah mtg much more expensive than hearthstone anyway

the depth of play and strategy is where mtg wins, but its much more difficult and harder to get into

basically hearthstone is the obvious choice for casual players, and mtg for more hardcore players who are willing to spend more money

i like both games, but prefer mtg

MTG is the more complex game but it's also been around for over 20 years so its had plenty of time to be built up to what it is today. Hearthstone is more casual then MTGO but there is definitely a competitive scene surrounding hearthstone. It's a work in progress so hopefully they add some more features that allow for more deck options and strategic elements.
