A Twist to a Classic
tldr; It's a twisted verson of EQ with many of P99 Red mechanics. Reworked camps in a few zones so you can gear up at a decent pace.
The idea is simple. Make friends, group up, and fight monsters and other Players. -About Me- Just another programmer with more ideas than time. -Summary of Server- **This is just an idea born from boredom.** This P99 Red inspired server will cycle through the first two expansions with a level cap starting at 15 until Book 5. This server will focus on a small range of Zones around each Kingdom to promote a healthy boundary for PvP. Focus Camps will be implemented with custom loot tables to match leveling progression. Tradeskill materials will have a slightly increased drop rate to improve the market. Estimated Timelines (with padding)
-Books & Chapters (Timeline)- Book 1: The Greater Faydark and Butcherblock Mountains War (Level 15 cap)
Book 2: The Great Barbarian and Halfling Kingdom
Book 3: The Field of Bone War
Book 4: The Erudite Holy War (Paladins vs Shadowknights)
Book 5: The Great Dragon Wars
-Lore- Check replies for possible explanation* tldr; 6 Kingdoms, 4 continents, all action and drama. -Race Details- Races will unlock during specific Chapters of each Book. Book 1: Dwarf, Gnome, & Humans will share Kaladim as a Kindgom. Humans are stationed at the Docks.
Book 2:
Book 3:
Book 4:
-Class Details- All classes will start with the same base stats and core resists.
Each class will have their related NPCs placed within their Kingdom. Races will keep their racials. -Zone Details- Camps within Focused Zones will have their loot table altered to drop gear for PvP progression at lower levels. These are called "Focus Camps" Experience and Respawn Rates will be altered at the Focus Camps. Tradeskill material drops will be increased at Focus Camps. -PvP Ruleset- 4 level differences. First to initiate will give a buff to enemy. If enemy is lower level, they receive a buff based on difference of the 2 levels. If they are a higher level, they will not receive a buff. P99 Red PvP Ruleset will be followed. -PvP Changes- Most Crowd Control spells will be reworked to promote a healthy PvP scene. (Lowering the duration & increasing resistance if spell is used repeatedly. Spellcasters will have increased Endurance vs Melee classes. Melee Attack Speed will not drop below a certain percentage. -Guards- All Guard's level will align with the current max level at the time. Guards will receive a buff to increase their status to a "Raid Trash Mob" difficulty. They will require a group effort to bring down for increased experience and coin. Guards will assist the defendant of duels. Many Guards around Norrath will be relocated to different sectors to protect their Kingdom's territory. Some Guards will offer quests in return for gear. Guards cannot be persuaded to doing your dirty work. They will protect the Kingdom. There are Guardians of the Order, who walk between the boundaries of Kingdoms to ensure chaos does not rip Norrath apart. (Indifferent to everyone.) -Faction- Killing Players will lower the faction to the Kingdom's Guards and the race of the Character defeated. You can lower your own Kingdom's Faction by killing allies. To regain Faction (your own or the enemies), you can turn in Teeth from Players to Spies of the Kingdom. As Races unlock, Teeth will give multiple Faction points to other Kingdoms based on the Race of the Tooth. -Ghosts- Players will not drop coin or items upon death. Instead they drop a tooth named after the Character and includes their level at the time of Death. Giving this to the Priest of Discord will spawn a same level 'Ghost' of the defeated Character. This monster will give experience and coin based on its level. -Camp Rules- Following the P99 Red Camp ruleset, we will introduce Focus Camps. Focus Camps will rework underused camps to promote a healthy leveling scene while giving all Players a chance to travel around to find other Players to Kill. Sharing Focus Camps could prove beneficial to your allies as the enemy may be planning to ambush unsuspecting Players. -Server Rules- Following the P99 Red Server rules, we will introduce a Post-Death Buff that may improve the quality of PvP. 1 Hour long buff includes: Player cannot attack or cast spells. Player is invulnerable. Player has increased movement speed. Upon looting your corpse, this buff will be overriden. 1 Minute long buff includes: Player cannot attack or cast offensive spells. Player has increased Health and Mana regen. This is to deter griefing and allow the defendent a chance to Loot and Scoot or prepare for a fair rematch. Any social misbehavior, abuse of software, or actions deemed unhonorable will receive punish as seen below. -Punishment- Tier 1: Ingame Death and Teleport to a specified location. Bind location changed and Experience loss. Tier 2: Tier 1 penalty. Punishing long lasting Debuff. Tier 3: Tier 2 penalty. Short term acccount/IP ban. Tier 4: Tier 3 penalty. Becoming Exiled with a permanent debuff. Tier 5: Permabanned.

Good post OP. Here's to hoping one day P99 team releases the custom code so the EQ Emu community as a whole can benefit from nilbog and rogean and the rest of the p99's teams tireless work making this thing classicer. At the same time this server could probably be done pretty fine and dandy on regular EQ Emu since it's custom.

EQ is such a nice sandbox to fuck around like this, shame its not exploited more. Like Star wars galaxies has a cool one with new planets, new mobs, events, etc... Nice ideas here, too bad we can only see it as a text.

I didn't expect the responses, thank you Red community!
If an off-the-wall idea can spark interest, than there is a demand for PvP. No rush team, but there are a lot of players in line. Shamefully I wouldn't be able to come close to P99's code in years, even if I went full time right now. I was looking through the default Emu source and it just looks like a college group project lol.(Cheers P99 team!) Time to tell a story, stay tuned!
