Hello I am a new player of Everquest, I've never played, the closest thing I have is WoW, I would like to recommend me to play that class, there playing with a hunter, but if we talk about a healer type not displease me, thanks mcuhas and a greeting, if I have questions and post again here.

If you like a class with a pet, go mage or necro. Necro gets a feign death spell. Both are casters and don't melee as hunters in wow.

Do you like to melee, or cast spells?

If melee, do you like to take damage, or deal damage?

If you like to take damage, do you like to cast spells?

If you like to deal damage, do you like to use stealth, or out combat your enemy?

If you like to cast, do you prefer damage roles, technical roles, or healing roles? (These can overlap)

Do you like to have a minion to command such as a pet? If so, how heavily do you wish to rely on that pet?

I think that is a good start to the discussion, answer these questions and this will help people suggest classes for you.

I'd rather play cast spells if possible at a distance, the pet I do not care, but if I can choose, I prefer to have a pet, and it is good if possible, do not like taking damage, so I would not mind having one to cure , the only thing that interests me is to hit in close combat and taking damage to the other things I'm open to suggestions.

I have been told to play in the red, what is the difference with the blue? if someone tells me that server I can agree but I also would appreciate.

Thanks you.

Based on what you've told us so far, a mage or necro would fit nicely. Necros are similar to warlocks in WoW, they use damage over time spells, have a pet etc. The mage has a stronger pet, less utility but does direct damage and has more spells to support their pet. Both are good at soloing, mage is slightly more group friendly.

I would try both, or watch some youTube videos and see what looks more appealing.

Another important consideration is if you want to group or solo primarily. Certain classes, like Rogue/Warrior, won't be able to level without a group.

Necros fulfill everything you said quite well. Except they have a more difficult time finding groups as they are mostly a solo class. Also, they do no close combat damage.

Rogues/Monks are good at close combat damage but have no spells. They are much easier to get groups for though.

I would suggest you stick with the Blue server, on Red you won't find anyone to play with. That server died a long time ago.

For reference, Red is Player vs. Player, Blue is not.

Enjoy!

Welcome!

Red is a server that is dedicated to Player vs. Player (PvP).

Blue is a server (the original) that is decated to Player vs Environment (PvE) or just the content.

Currently, blue is further along in the expansions and has a much greater playerbase. Don't let that stop you from picking a server based on what you want though. Just be aware that you will find it easier to start on blue most likely.
