As long as new players have no one to play with, the server will continue its death spiral.

I have my own reasons for why I think red99 pop is so low, and it has nothing to do with the server not being fun. If you haven't given it a shot yet, quit trolling my thread and come play [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Hiya, Azure here reporting in from Neriak on red99!
So I had a great big dilemma to decide what server to play on. Do I play on blue? I can trade skill and use the economy to get an easy head start. I can find lots of groups to play with. Zones may be really crowded and I have to wait in line for a camp. End game is pretty stale. Having to be a lucky chosen applicant to a guild and work extra heard to "earn" my place behind older players who simply have more time invested in their characters. Either through plat or DKP. Or do I start on red server? The potential to do anything is there. I have to work on tradeskills myself just got get gear. Find my own weapons. Can be killed or killed by others. End up soloing most of my time. Get killed by extremely well organized and skilled PvPers who want nothing to do with a 'bluebie' and beg their mercy. Well. I decided to go for the adventure and chose red. So far I haven't become a casualty of anyones ego. I managed to save up quite a large number of pelts. I even found a buyer who helped me earn enough platinum to work up smithing. Some kinda high levels dropped me a few great starting weapons. A Harpoon of the depths (Thanks Crockett) and Sacrificial Dagger, and Dragoon Dirk! I've had to solo. But it has been relaxed and at my own pace. I have seen a few people get killed in Neriak at the bank. But it truly makes the city feel alive. Like its a Dark elf city with foes and opposing houses everywhere! The /ooc has been dismal and flooded with out of game topics and arguing amongst a few players, at least 6 on my ignore list now. And I had to put it in its own window. I'm now a level 14 rogue. And am enjoying my stay there. I see a few people soloing (a bard, a druid). But haven't gotten into a group yet. Reading the forums I hear horror stories about zones like unrest. But as a rogue, I wont be going there alone! These are things to consider if you want to choose red. Good luck, and hope to see some more newbies on the server =) Oh I just wanted to add: There is an active guild there that recruited me <Union> they have a porter and I see other people (Linuxcaller) offering ring to ring ports. You may just have to be extremely patient and wait a few hours to get anywhere. Meaning red requires a bit more foresight and planning. But its not a ghost town =) | ||
