In 1999 i dont know many people who had anything other then dial up. I dont really know of ANYONE who 2 boxed, besides maybe a couple who played together and would sometimes play both at once. I would also say, they probably used 2 computers if they did.

There were quite a few at the gaming place I used to play from. It was the norm.

Back in 1999 my bro and I played. We each had our own accounts. We used dialup and dialed into our ISP through a Linux box that shared the dial up connection. On occasion we would 2 box each others chars but since you needed 2 sep computers and our comps were on different floors of the house, we did do it much, usually just for buffing and such. In 2000 we got comast cable modem. At that time routers didnt exists and it was agains comcast's agreement to share your connection. We did anyway via a linux server lol. It wasnt til maybe just before Velious we got additional accts for 2 boxing. My main reason was I needed a sacrificial lamb for Essence Emeralds for my nec. So for that reason I wish we could 2 box cause id have my sacbitch, but other than that I mostly played one acct.

I boxed quite a bit in live... it got to be a dang chore for me. I'd just rather solo slowly.

But.. perhaps it's kinda like going to a swingers club and playing with yourself...

I could see limiting the number to just 2 boxing, but to outlaw it just makes no sense to me. Regardless of how many people did it then, or how "classic" it is or isnt, i honestly think that allowing a box per account would bring in more players (other then the boxs)

And that'd even please those annoying "it has to be classic!" people since paying an extra $10 / month to play 2 chars at once is "classic."

boxing is one of the things i disliked in SoD. Even tho we could I never did on that server.

I dont mind boxing on live... the extra money was enough deterrent to keep everyone from doing it.
