The reasons are the same as always:

- PVP in EQ is bad
- Playing on an empty server sucks
- Red population are shitheads

Most people don't want to invest time on both servers so they play the one which doesn't have these problems

I replied with my feedback on the red thread, but I feel like it's already pretty well known and just accepted. reading through it, most people are in agreeance with what is wrong with the server. I cannot fathom a way that you could save that server from itself though, it's too far gone, it's degenerated hard over the years. the only way to save it would be to remove the people that make it such a shitty environment to begin with.. there's no silver bullet easy fix laying around anywhere. who would be left to play with at that point, and how would you repopulate it? no one would ever take on that task either, it'd be an administrative nightmare. even if you started over fresh and tried to raise it right from the ground up, it'd be a nightmare to deal with.

what a complicated situation. I don't envy the staff's position on how to deal with the red server. it's probably just going to sit there and fester longer.

Needs to be customized to survive. EQ just isn't good PvP. Increase experience dramatically, something like x15 than normal or even more.

Bounty system, player killer who starts the fight becomes loot able coin and 1 item. items in bags are loot able too. 24hrs logged in before status goes back to normal granted no more starting fights the refreshes time.

Everyone starts with a call for help horn that allows you once per 24hrs logged in to summon a friend to your location.

Teams based on good and evil races would spice things up. Custom AAs which are PvP related for each class.
