Personally, I would like to see more organized events for gay people. Like a gay day or something, where prizes are givin out to in game dance competitions, races and such.

And dude, you are going to encounter issues wherever you go. Some people are just not comfortably with the LGBT community, and that's fine too. Go on your merry way, play, and find your own place. The community on Red is getting better, but you're bound to run into some crude opinions somewhere along the way (just as in RL). If it's fear that's holding you back, then just don't do it.
