Default First day back to the old school

Well today I finally got titanium and got on the server and I gota say this is a great community. I started up my DE cleric and started crushing the faces of snakes and spiderlings. Just about everyone who ran past would stop and throw a buff on me. I saw a necro go by and I sent her a tell offering to sell bone chips because i knew this was a great way to make money in the old days. She did seem to be just passing through though so I didn't expect her to come back. Despite the fact that I only had half a stack and she wasn't even actively looking to buy she came back and bought them from me anyway. One guy gave me a hand made back pack and some buffs. Another one hit me with a huge damage shield and 25 plat to get me started. Its stuff like this that I missed most from old EQ. Random people helping out strangers. Back in 2000 when my main was a druid I use to go to noobie zones every time I got new spells and spend a few hours buffing people. Now that I've come full circle and i'm the noobie again its nice to see people still have time to stop and help someone out that they don't know. It just doesn't happen in other MMOs.

Thank you all - not just for the goodies but for the good feeling [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I agree, folks help the lowbies out a lot. I really appreciate that about this server too. I started a cleric in Qeynos just the other day and was level 5 in 45 minutes because the nice druid throwing high level buffs on me.

At level 8 Fearghus was given 2k plat for helping transfer cash for someone in EC. I was a perfect stranger. After a short conversation, they handed me the money, asked that I don't steal it and to give it to their alt.

Yea, the folks here can be pretty damned friendly.

Though not all of them...

Not to be a dick.. but I think people help newbies to much on here now.

Just remember as nice as it is to get and give all that free plat and PL'in buffs.... you are depriving them of the struggles and hardships of their first character. That is can never be replaced.

Be nice to the noobers but dont make it so easy for them.

Too late :P

I buff people even with my low lvl 18 stuff -- I know how those buffs can ease things for just a bit and let you do more damage or take less damage. This isn't anywhere close to removing hardships and struggles, most buffs just don't last that long. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] I agree, the community is good! I have to disagree with this. I would say almost all of the players on this server are not new to EverQuest, so this technically isn't their "first character". They've done the struggle from nothing before, it's not character building a second time around. A few spare lowbie items and a damage shield don't turn a returning player from humble to spoiled brat.

i'm still a lowbie and even i give out low level buffage to other newbies... level 8 mage DS. not much but at the low levels it really helps. does that make me a filthy power leveler even though i'm not even level 20 yet?

I think 99% of the people here were noobs and did their hardships back in 1999. Im sure helping them level a bit faster wont ruin them for life.

I had 3 lvl 60 chars during velious and I would love it if someone helped me with my rogue. I dont know why, but grind seemed easier back in the day.
