I would say enchanter is the best class to start with. I made a monk when I first started, but after a while I just couldn't find groups as a guild less monk. Everyone wants chanters. Hardly anyone would PvP me in OOT because they wanted c2, and in exchange they'd port me when my bags were full of cash loot. They're just nice to have around. If you duo, enchanter and cleric are real strong. I'd say necro and shaman are behind chanters for farming. But I essentially used a chanter to farm gear for any other class I wanted to build up. I still use one as my farm bot, and it gave me the ability to gear a lot of different toons.

Do you reroll there or transfer? Would a cleric trying to level be painful? Are there enough lowbies to group with? I've just recently started playing P99 and never played eq pvp back in the day so excuse the questions.

There is no transfer, so you have to create a new character.
A cleric would be great! They are obviously very popular with groups, and in pvp they are fun to play because they are so hard to kill (multiple DAs, gate, root, dispell). There are lowbies to group with in the popular zones, or you can try and find them through the global OOC. Your best bet would be to join a leveling guild like <Fresh> so they can help you with beginning items and plat for spells. No problem, happy to help. Good luck on red99! It's a fun and new experience.

Had a great time leveling up so far. Experience is extremely fast in groups.
I didn't run into trouble with pvp until around lvl 50 on my monk. You need to get mr gear asap once you hit that level so you won't get rooted. But even if you die, there is no experience loss and you don't keep coin loot on your person. Thus, it's all good and you can keep trucking along. I'm also leveling up a bard. I grouped up to level 14 and started kiting in EK a couple days ago. Soon I'll move to kunark but I'm also always looking to group. Hit me up on: Fael - lvl 50 monk. Dolic- lvl 21 bard

Magic resist gear really can't be undervalued, it's vital to stack as much as you can - chances are you'll be fighting someone who has better MR than you otherwise... keep the odds in your favor [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

So I rolled a cleric in Freeport this morning. When do I start seeing people? Just time of day or are there waves of levels where people tend to be at?

Red questions:
1. Is the exp bonus only for groups or is soloing faster as well? 2. What is actually lost when you are pk'd?

After years and years of slowly building up gear/levels on blue, its kinda hard just to ditch it.
Although, a newer EQ experience sounds fun. Whats the transfer ratio or plat/gear?
