A couple things:

It truly amazes me how everyone seems to agree it is self evident that parked toon tracking (whether by druid/ranger or supposed 3rd party programs), mass messaging via googlephone, twitter, or sms messaging, happens to log in people who are camped out at a spawn....yet people continue to come to the forums and be surprised by it. Granted, twitter and googlephone didn't exist in 1999...but sms sure did and the batphone was happening then - only someone truly ignorant would be surprised by a more advanced system now.

Secondly, I really think it is funny that people continue to pull out the whole "you raiders have no life" red herring. If nothing else is classic, that behavior certainly is. The batphone/twitter/sms system is what allows most raiders who use it to spend far far less time on project 1999 than others who do not utilize it. True, there are people who attach a larger than normal priority to playtime. Most people, though, use quick mobilization/camp method to jump online to do what they want to do: raid/dominate a server with minimal impact on their RL interests.

For example, on an average evening I can spend my time with my wife, lesson planning, working on grad school obligations, playing music, cooking, writing...any number of activities knowing that if something happens in-game which reflects why I want to play (IE raiding and not running around farming that 50th thousand platinum piece). I can walk over to the comp, click login, and be ready to raid. The side effect is fast mobilzation, beccause I'm not nuts deep in some dungeon somewhere farming items to sell to Bob. I don't know about debating 30 seconds versus 10 minutes...that kinda thing is something I would put in the realm of OCD.

Bottom line: It is not hard whatsoever to get a toon to 50 on this server, get a full set of planar + resist gear, jboots if you want, and a healthy amount of plat banked. After that, if you want to raid...I recommend doing it the most effecient way possible - camping out buffed and ringing the ol' batphone.

I have raided in numerous games and I still would never get up early in the morning to go to a raid. As far as that goes...its nerdy and ridiculous.

Never once did I say anything about getting up early in the morning. I could care less about when people decide to raid. Managing their level of nerdy is obviously their prerogative. You won't find me personally raiding late night, but to each their own. I certainly am not complaining, however, about camping out at a spawn buffed, utilizing someone who does play a lot to track, and logging in to kill a boss.

Here's an example of tl;dr drivel:

you're a fucking retard.
The weight of an insult is inversely proportional to how serious one classifies the slinger. I assure you, as much as I've enjoyed your "when sober girls..." and "which drug..." posts...any opinion you have of me, or the length of my forum responses, garners about as much weight as a drunk, raving, homless person.

I predicted that you would feel this way, which is why I backed up my post with incontrovertible evidence that you are a worthless asshole. Please review this source material. You will find it conveniently quoted in the post you are referencing.

That was actually one of the most coherent things written in this thread. Sometimes, educated adults write in paragraphs. Don't let it scare you. They're just words; they don't bite.

People didn't use the batphone here like they did in 1999 because in 1999 the spawns were static 3 & 7 day with 1 to 4 patch days during each week.
