Default What is the best naked/moderate gear PVP class?

I am looking to get my feet wet on red.. It sounds fun.

I am a 60 druid on blue and have a 55 monk. I am not looking forward to starting again. I know I can transfer some blue plat over to red if I can find someone willing to do the small quantities I would want to work in.

This is not a leave blue to play red situation, just going to dabble in red to see what I think. So I won't be transferring very much plat at all. I have a pretty good understanding of pve and some classes can solo well naked or with modest gear. Is this true with pvp and is it basically the same classes? (Maybe not a necro?) because no fear pvp right? Are enchanters, shamans, Druids and mages good moderate gear PVP classes. Is my thinking correct here?

It scales from casters being stronger at lower levels and melee better at higher levels when they get resists and better weapons.

If you are going to dabble you most likely want to be self reliant because it wont be easy to make friends if you aren't on a lot.

So Caster will be your best bet.

If you are just trying to dabble, why transfer anything over at all?

You don't need it. I've grouped with plenty of people that still use full cloth well into their 30s and doing just fine. Just play it, the exp is enough to get most people hooked.

Depends what you call fun. I play a druid and have fun even though my Pvp record is 1-12 so far. Now 35 with mostly leather armor earned fro CB belts quest.

Wizard is the easy choice, if you are good enough you dont really even need to worry about resist gear as much as you should be levitated up or hidden somewhere people arent even going to notice you are killing them.

Imagine this scenario:

Some people are going to be hunting for pk's. They'll have gear optimized for this at whatever budget they can afford (at least ~80 or so MR, even budget), they'll have their spells/gear lined up for pvp, they'll be buffed and the buffs will be correctly ordered, they'll have clicky buffs for dispel protection, and they'll have clicky pots to dispel poison/disease/mez/etc. This doesn't necessarily need to be a fungi twink; you can do all of this with a couple thousand plat.

You, on the other hand, will be a sitting duck. You will be engaged with a mob, you will be improperly geared for pvp, your spell lineup will be terribly ineffective against another player, you won't have any way to protect yourself against the things they do to you.

Now imagine it's a deleveled fungi twink with an epic ragebringer or oggok cleaver or whatever.

So the answer to your question is: Class choice means nothing if you're not skilled, vigilant, and prepared. Play what you want to play, eat your learning curve YT like a man, learn to be vigilant, skilled, and prepared. Fight in groups whenever you can, because solo exp simply isn't efficient for any class on this server compared to even a mediocre group, and when you're alone you're as vulnerable as you can be.

About class choice: you will not encounter any large decree of classism here like you would on blue. You can easily find groups as a druid, necro, ranger, wizard, etc. Leveling in groups is fast enough to make hybrids tolerable to play. Any class can do well in pvp and any class can get rocked, depending largely on skill, vigilance, and preparation. Quality of life differences between classes are essentially the same as on blue, such as: being evil non-iksar eventually gets you free (with a little work) OT hammer, racial regen is nice, druid/shaman/bard get free movement speed, wiz/druid get ports, being ogre/troll is a pain in the ass without a shaman friend in certain dungeons.

Thanks for the answers. I would transfer a little cash over if the answer were "with 300p a melle class will be good at PVP in the lower levels." But since the answer seems to be caster in the beginning I am thinking I should xfer 1k blue to like 300p red. I am under the impression that the leveling happens so fast in the beginning, especially grouped, that it is tough to keep up on spell costs.

Please spare me the lower LVL money making guides, I know the Pve ropes prett well.
