It's mostly for looks but it does also count as a bow even though you can primary wield it and Autoattack with it. Which means Trueshot Discipline will greatly enhance the damage this puts out, making the BFG more like a 40/50 primary, plus the mainhand bonus, makes it a very powerful weapon during Trueshot disc.
