My first toon was a warrior, I had no pre existing friends on the server. I really enjoyed gearing up from nothing and I recommend anyone doing it.
Personally I tried to loot/quest all my equipment I could, although I did pick up a couple of trade skill items on the way. | ||

Use the p99 Wiki for the Kaladim maps to easily find the paladin guild, or any other locations in the future.
