Nothing brings people closer together like mutually hating something.

I would imagine even Innoruk would appreciate camaraderie in such a linear capacity.

You heal them to prolong their suffering. At least that's how the great Swit N`wah does it in Innoruuk's Glorious Name.

You understand that for hatred to rule, there must be people to hate. How can hate exist when there are no beings to harbor such feelings? You actually have greater perspective than the being you worship and understand that to truly increase his domain and power you must keep alive those that have the capacity to hate.

Your religion teaches the ways of hate, conflict, death and things like that... being as you are such a stout follower of the Prince of Hate, you apply this hatred to the actual principles on which your beliefs are founded and do the exact opposite of everything you learned as a young Dark Elf!

In the end, your behavior and actions would truly inspire great hatred in the soul of your deity. Rustling your own god!! Perhaps this is a sign of greater things to come in your character's story...

...So like, why would I heal someone if I hate everyone? I keep trying to come up with a clever lore explanation but I can't. Can anyone shed some perspective on potential philosophies for clerics of innoruuk? ...
Hey there. I am a long time role-player in EQ. Suffice to say that my biggest role is ta-dah! DE Cleric of Innoruuk! You will find that Hate is a powerful weapon, and to answer your question, there are many reasons why a disciple of hate would heal another, some of which include:

1. When you hate someone, you enjoy watching them suffer. So why not heal them while they are being shredded to death by gnolls so you can prolong their suffering?

2. Part of your mission as one who follows hate is to ensure the ones you hate, are indebted to you, especially your enemies. Nothing is more glorious than the paladin filth of Erollissi begging for your blessing to keep them alive. By having the infidels call upon your intervention with The Dark Father, they are brought one step closer to hate.

3. When you heal someone, that dark, magical energy comes from Innoruuk. When you imbue someone with that healing essence, their soul becomes closer to hate, and eventually one with the Dark Father.

4. Healing is not an act of kindness on your part, it is an act of selfishness on the recipient who wishes to remain alive instead of dying a heroic death. When you heal someone who expects you to heal, you aren't being kind, you are simply entertaining their selfish desires.

5. Disciples of Hate heal others to gain their favor. This is not out of a desire to be loved, but rather a ploy to make people who love, love you; As a result, they are knowingly loving you, but are unknowingly loving the embodiment of Hate, which all priests of Hate represent. Which of course brings those who love, closer to hate!

We can discuss more on the topic of hate in game. Look for me in game, Jhulae. See you soon!

As a devout cleric of the Prince of Hate, your job is to fight for the cause of spreading hatred all across Norrath. Innoruuk has chosen you to preach his cause & keep his armies alive by blessing you with healing powers. Even the armies of hate require healers.

You could even take it a step further and limit yourself to only grouping with followers of Innoruuk. That would make your life a lot harder but could be fun.

If you don't want to go quite that far, you could always look at it from a selfish angle. Are your party members just pawns that you are playing to further your own agenda? If so, perhaps they are a necessary evil, & must be kept alive as a mean to an end.

It's your character so you can put whatever restraints you want on them. Get creative with it.

Either way, embrace the hatred!

The way I see it, you have to look at ancient priests. Were the priests of Dionysus drunk all of the time? Of course not, though they did get raging drunk at the feasts they organized. Were priests of war gods constantly on the battlefield? No, but when war did happen they were ready to bless soldiers. And priests of death gods, did they run around killing people? Of course not, they simply handled burial arrangements .

The same thing applies to priests of a god of hate: they do not hate everyone all the time. If they did the Dark Elf civilization would collapse. Instead, they do the same things as any other priest (including healing), and when they find an appropriate moment to celebrate or spread hate they do so.

An adventuring Innoruuk priest would still heal/buff their companions, like any cleric, because it's in their own self-interest to do so ... but they'll yell about how those companions are pathetic cowards who need to swing their swords with the full fury of their hate while healing them. Similarly while a Rodcet Nife priest might advocate leaving non-KOS mobs alone, an Innoruuk priest would encourage his companions to slaughter them. And while a Bristlebane cleric might encourage rolling a die to resolve a fight over loot, the Innoruuk priest would encourage a physical fight over it (and then rez everyone after; after all, he wants loot too).
