I don't have a source for this to prove you wrong hit I'm fairly certain you are. Remember those zombie events in North and South Ro back in the day? IIRC but I thought those were double exp events

Confirmed not classic.

However it did bring us closer to classic population, and due to double EXP I got very immersed.

I saw a full group of 40s at Frenzied in LGuk, instead of a level 60 necro/enchanter farming it.

Also saw three level 40-50 groups in Kedge Keep.

They really should have double EXP events in unused zones and alternate them as time goes on. Not classic? Players clearly don't give a shit as evidenced by this weekend. And if players like it, wheres the downside?

I'd be curious to see a non-xp bonus but spawn rate increase weekend. Spawns take half the time.
