Even if you ARE right, don't you see the problem? You could put anything in the fucking bag you send up there.

Oh and just for reference, the Adirondack National Park is actually the largest national park in the continental US. It's larger than Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Glacier and Smoky Mountain national parks COMBINED.
Extremely harsh up there in the winter, but in summer you couldn't ask for a better place to hide as escaped fugitives. There's literally thousands of hunting and vacation cabins up there most of which are only occupied a couple weeks a year; and the owners mostly leave stuff like guns, ammo, canned foods, fire starter logs, bottled water, lighter fluid, camping supplies (you name it) in the empty cabins all year round. Basically anything/everything a fugitive on the lam could ever need. Fun fact: Also a perfect place to retreat when the zombie apocalypse arrives!!!

I don't think there is any easy solution to the problem and will probably stay that way until North Korea takes over the world and everyone's assholes can be searched by The Supreme Leader himself.

Regardless if this is SOP, that is not the point. The point is, this is a maximum security facility and this "security" is completely bypassed by this "SOP".
This is like having a "tower drop" at an international airport, but instead some dude throwing whatever over the fence and someone else then taking it into the secure area. It completely bypasses any security that was put in place.

It's hard to believe that those people claiming this is how things work aren't all drug smuggling tower guards trying desperately to cover this up.
