Don't get me wrong. I LOVED Speed. I LOVED Terminator. I like action films. But look at Star Trek IV or I, not II. Maybe even III--I've not seen either yet. There's almost no fighting in IV. Yet IV was my favorite as a kid growing up. When I tried to watch Star Trek The Motion Picture it was always lost on me but still caught my imagination.

I'm not saying the new Star Treks are bad. After viewing hte trailers, I have to say they're what they're. But don't pretend for a second TOS is the same thing. There were episodes in TOS where almost nothing fast happens. Some seriously weird ones! Maybe a punch here and there, but that was it. The rest was slow motion compared to Fast and Furious. There're some TOS episodes with more action, but you still shouldn't be comparing them to Fast and Furious like you were.

I think in the movies era home boy really started believing in humanism and you saw the change that drove him to push for the humanist TNG that we all think is the startrek motus oporandi

During the development of TNG he wanted NO conflict, pretty interesting, the writers had a hard time trying to figure out how to tell a story if everyone in the future were perfect.

He was taken off the show at the end of season 2 and thats when they were able to change the direction a bit and make it the series we all know and love (dont get me wrong i love all seasons of TNG, but you cant argue that 1 & 2 are not pretty bad and VERY derivative of the old series even though he wanted them to be so different)

Also recently heard a theory that BLEW my fucking mind, and was ashamed I didnt come up with it.

That TNG is a metaphore for Heaven.. Q is god, and everyone lives in peace. The holodeck allows people to live in infinite worlds...

I think its more of a coincidence though, becuse he knew he wanted to make the series his humanist utopia vision, and Q was added on the fly when he was forced to change the pilot into a 2hour episode.

But who knows, maybe at that moment is when he decided to write the show as what heaven really is.

I sure hope its fucking heaven. I can tell you that much, know why? Cus then we get to live in mother fuckin startrek world ahhhh yiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis

Cus then we get to

I enjoyed TNG and Voyager. I had trouble getting into DS9 when I tried to jump aboard mid-series/end-series. It was really hard to get into if you showed up late. I wasn't able to get into DS9 for whatever reason. I think maybe it had too much going on as I recall, too much character development to catch up on left me clueless.

Voyager was a much easier follow than DS9. TNG is what star trek was about. That original shit was too heavy on the james bond space cowboys stuff from captain kirk for my taste.

I started DS9 from the beginning and stuck with it long enough for it to be pretty good. TNG was definitely true star trek imo.
