No convenient way. Whether an elemental has a tail is controlled by the server.

Classic mob models can have alternate "heads". Think of the different shapes of Vox's head versus Naggy's, or giant vs cyclops vs sand giant vs ice giant heads -- same base model, different head model.

Elementals have two different "heads"... One is a stump at the bottom of their body, the other is a tail. The server tells your client which to use whenever an elemental is spawned.

(The way I remember it, only earth elemental pets should use the stump version over the tail, but I'm not a classic expert or mage player.)
