I started playing eq as a pala and had a blast. High elf is a decent race for paladin too. If you stick to the char i have a nice weapon for you, ive been looking for a noob pal to give, but didnt wanna give it some twink [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Ip exemption usually can take some time, but recently they were granted pretty fast so you may be lucky.

That is crazy though. Weeks? Does anyone know the reviewing process? I'm just interested to know.
Basically when a Dev is bored enough, he sorts the list of IP Exceptions by date from oldest to newest post(so bumping your post is pointless) and does as many has he can(usually all of them). Its just low priority for the Devs free time.

You won't be able to get all of those things in one class.

Good solo melee: There aren't any really good ones. Paladins do alright against undead, and SKs can solo once you get a large enough mana pool to fear kite.

Lots of health: War/Pal/SK

Good Offense: Monk/Rogue

Nothing wrong with a High Elf Paladin-- your starting STR and STA are low and should get all your creation points. Paladins are definitely on the low end of the DPS spectrum but once you get yourself a Ghoulbane you'll do okay soloing against undead.

As a pally you want to soak up damage. You will have some difficulty with your str being low, but in time that isn't a big deal.

HIE Pallys kick ass in terms of uniqueness. I saw a HIE pally and it made me roll one myself (flaming sword did it for me).

Some tips, when you are fighting you want to take the damage so others don't. Your best spell for keeping the mob on you is flash of light. You have to be the closest person to mob if it lands. It's a blind and the mob will run away possibly if you are out of melee range. The way aggro works on spells like that and root is that the closest person to the mob gets beat on. Smaller races can get closer than you, but hardly anyone stands on top of a mob.

HIE pally will be more of a caster (higher wis). Dwarf pally will be better melee (better str). I ran a HIE pally to 58 or 59 in original, never had a prob finding a group and was MT most of the time, despite my relatively lower str and stam.

If you want easy, roll a DE necro. Necros are a really strong solo class.

Don't make him roll a necro, everyone rolls a necro or mage as first char. Paladin rocks, maybe not easy mode but a lot of fun, and i think it fits what hes looking for the best. I need someone to give that sword to, and he wants to duo anyway :P

Whats your ingame name redo?

To me, a monk definitely comes to mind when I read this.

They don't have spells and they don't have quite as much HP as pure tank classes do, but they the best offensive melee class to play. They excel at soloing with their ability to self-heal with mend, and can evade enemies with feign-death (read: you never die). Plus, if you roll an Iksar, their health regen is better than most which might help make up for their lack of total hit points. And then of course you have their outstanding DPS, and ability to fight well without weapons.

Something that might also help make up for their lack of spells (or nukes anyway) for you, is their wide range of attacks and abilities. Monks are constantly getting new kick and attack upgrades which aid nicely in battle. I love landing 120+ damage flying kicks every 10 seconds or so. Kind of feels like a nuke, if that is the kind of spell you are after.

But yeah, monks FTW
