Default Your suggested AV doesn't score above my AV

It's rather ironic that you say this isn't an acceptable solution in this era seeing as third party active antivirus has been an unnecessary resource hog for quite some time now. My theory is the anti cheat is seeing your AV as a possible risk. The anticheat scans your active memory for data mining software. The official solution is to get a halfway decent antivirus instead of the garbage you are currently using. Malwarebytes is one that comes to mind.
I agree with your theory, but I've been using the same AV for a time (before I began P99 and during my time playing P99). If the anticheat now recognizes a part of the AV as a threat, how is that the responsibility of the AV development team? Or did I misunderstand that it was a P99 update which began this issue?

I am not a person whose online activities put my pc at a high level of risk. So, I may continue to work with my AV (maybe turning off the participation in their research data mining) and see if P99 will be happy, or maybe I won't. I don't get to play that much anyway.

Thanks for the response. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

*Edit* Just for others use - I did get to login and choose server by disabling shields and putting the p99 folder in 'safe sites' or whatever your AV might call it. But, then I kept getting an error message which I will post later this evening once home. The error message was between server select and character screen.

Then get malwarebytes. Its better than that garbage anyway and hasn't given me a single issue with anything. When I had avg I was constantly getting false positives and it was a real resource hog. Avast wasn't any better. You could always stop looking at porn on shady sites XD

I'm not going to uninstall my AV. That is not an acceptable solution in this era, and hasn't been in 20 years.
I have attempted to disable shields for a few minutes. I have reloaded the spell file. I have made the entire p99 folder an exception in the AV.

Is P99 about to become a server of the past? No more attention to the future of AV's? Perhaps this is part of the agreement with DB so there would be no backlash? I don't know, but I haven't been able to find an official solution to this problem and it's a little irritating. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I have the paid version of Avast. I went into setting, general and scrolled down to "exclusions". Put "C:\Everquest*" in it and I'm good to go, without turning it off.

Yes, it worked for me as well.
I was meaning to get back here and post that the second error was not caused by the anticheat code and any AV. It was because I had replaced a larger WS monitor with a smaller one. In the ini I had set reso at 1920 and full screen. The older/smaller monitor caused p99 to try and open in a windowed setting(I assume) causing a crash. Once I edited my ini file to 1050, all was well. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Thanks for the responses everyone!

hey man, thanks for this.

I did not know where to go, I been running Avast without one of the shields on... Now that you said where to go (exclusions) and what to type (C:\Everquest*).

I have all shields back on and p99 is running fine it seems.

Thanks a lot bro.

Your antivirus just found p1999's snooping code. Make an exception for the EQ folder or uninstall i guess.

pulls process headers is why it's being flagged.

Gmail/yahoo/paypal pages contain your email in the header. Open a browser. That bar at the top is your process header. This makes busting RMT a lot easier especially if it's from a sting. Tired of good software being maligned and trash talked for working as intended because nerds want to sound smart.

"Get malwarebytes" is laughable really. Yeah let's downgrade protection on the advice of some nobody telling you the anticheat only does a checksum within the EQ folder only. If that was the case it wouldn't be flagged.

Trust the staff or uninstall pretty simple.

Default It was the Virus Protection for me

I tried disabling the Firewalls on my antivirus and it works. added an exemption to the file path and now it works without disabling anything.
