There is a huge chunk of the pop that plays solely because it's free. We talking about the neckbeards....a free game that can offer 20 hours a day entertainment, and plays on their shitbox 2003/2004 CRT monitored computers.

You do know that EQ is free right? I just played for 2 weeks on live without spending a penny.. had fun.. Except the boxers and no groups. which makes the game useless to me.

Progression servers are not free. The free live servers are fucking terrible, gear that has better stats than epics drop off of normal trash mobs.

i think this is the case for most people. sad thing is i actually own a gtx 1080 and multiple high end computers, yet still played this game.

answers so far have been good. i still havent received much feedback from the nolife population as to why they do it though.

The reason agnarr is enticing is it forever caps at pop. Once you get the best gear here it won't be invalidated by the next expansion's new caps. A god on p99 is a god until the server shuts down, instead just the next expansion.
