As a side note, I never knew the correct pronunciation for peridot. I always thought of it as peri (like periscope) - dot (like polkadot). It's actually pronounced peri (like periscope) - doe (like bread dough). In my head though, I still think of it ending with a dot (hard to undo so many years of thinking like this) :-)
Both pronunciations are correct [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

And just because it's interesting:
Peridot's history begins on a small desert island 50 miles or so off the southeast coast of Egypt in the Red Sea. The name of the island has changed many times over recorded history. Ancient literature calls the island Topazion, sometimes referred to as Topazos, but it now goes by two names-- its most recent label, Zabargad, and its immediate past name of St. John's. "Zabargad" is the Arabic word for peridot, although the English word "peridot" is said to have com from "Faridat," the Arabic word for gem. Coming from "faridat" could account for the American Southwest's pronunciation of peridot as "PEAR-a-dot," instead of the more common pronunciation (taken from the French), "PEAR-a-doe."

Thanks! It was interesting to learn these details. While we're on this little side-rail (not a full derailing the thread) I had also mispronounced some the the various names in EQ such as Qeynos and Najena. I then read some posts back in the day from the devs or producers and learned how to properly pronounce the names (and some of the history behind the names). Always interesting to learn little details..

And that's the only right way in my book! [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

IMHO idea that combat performance can be bought with cash was just stupid design concept (similarly as idea to give unfair advantage to some classes to make cash via usage of their spells). It was great when they removed this thing

I always forget. Just last night I looted a peridot. I didn't realize it until I sold it to a vendor later... I was thinking wait a minute... don't clerics need these? Sometimes we just don't really pay attention when there's pulls happening non-stop and there's corpses piling up. Just be like "Hey can I get that peridot?" Works every time.

If you're not giving Peridots to the Cleric you're just being silly.

I agree with OP, last night I looted a dot (no cleric in group) we later got a cleric and I gave it to her not even thinking or being asked, its just what you do IMO.
