It's no enc/cleric, but not bad. Having snare on your charm pet is nice.

Key will be leveling somewhere you can both utilize charm and also getting comfortable with charming if you are not used to it

And don't forget, as a druid if you kill a shaman NPC you can then charm it's pet!

Not the best pet, but better than nothing in zones with no other animals.
