I got a copy of Oblivion during deployment. I had spent the first 6 months or so with no internet, no books etc. My parents sent me a laptop and a copy of this game, and it was a huge escape for me at that time. I remember being so into it that I figured out a way to TAPE the keys on my keyboard down to max athletics and acrobatics while I was out on patrol...

My favorite was 1987 rocky balboa on Sega. Used to play it in the barracks in between push ups.

Sounds very familiar. I play with an aluminum pull-up bar about 10 feet behind my computer chair and I STILL do sets pull-ups, push-ups and squats in between pulls (the only perk to playing a Cleric who spends 90% of his existence sitting stationary).

The best single-player RPG of all time was Ultima III because it arrived at exactly the point in my life where I would believe that shit. Before that I didn't understand and after that I was just playing games and min-maxing the outcome. But for a brief moment in the 80s I was that guy and these were my friends and we were doing that quest.

After some nostalgic reflection, going to have to go with this 'desert island' list...

Fallout 1/2/New Vegas
Baldurs Gate 1/2/Icewind Dale
GTA San Andreas

and the 'nostalgia but don't really need it on my island' list:

Neverwinter Nights 2
Ultima II/III
Questron I/II
Phantasie I/II
Telengard

Did you finish it? It's on everyone's list and I can't find one person who got even halfway through it.
