There are almost exactly the same arguments to be found from boiler shop workers a hundred years ago complaining about getting sick from all that asbestos dust (from the lagging) when said "experts" were insisting that it was all in their heads and there was no known danger from it. Oops! How about lead pipes--another oopsie. Use expert advice for the resource it is, but treating it like infallible gospel is ill-advised.
One modern example is the nigh-universal plastic water bottles. I won't use them. The water coming out of those always tastes like plastic. There is no way you'll ever convince me that those things aren't going to prove to be another "oops!" years or decades from now when the experts figure out they were wrong all along and drinking plastic is indeed bad for you.
With respect to medical treatment, someone has to be willing to take the risk and be the human guinea pigs so we can get the data to see what happens. That includes both the vaccines as well as alternatives.
