polygon released their top 50 of 2023 list:

https://www.polygon.com/23648669/best-video-games-2023

pretty nice to see a longer list, there are a lot of games in there i haven't even heard of. great year for games overall finally, after covid threw a wrench in all things.

i don't have much gaming time these days but i did manage to finish ff xvi which placed pretty highly. i really enjoyed it. finally starting to play an hour or two of tears of the kingdom each week and it is unsurprisingly fantastic.

Cool list. Thanks for posting booter. Was a good gaming year overall.

I only made it half way through FF16 and got distracted. Haven't made it back yet, but plan to. Tears of the Kingdom, though, was excellent. Huge fan of BotW and this felt like it extended that out with some QoL quite well. Glad you are getting a chance to play around with it. Another masterpiece just like BotW.

I fired up my original gamecube and have been playing the first two super monkeyball games. I forgot how incredibly fun and addicting they are. Especially the minigolf game in the first one.

Played those games for sooooo many hours as a kiddo.. sigh middleschool.

Metroid Prime is still my fav gamecube game. The soundtrack is amazing, and I have an old set of speakers that work for surround sound.

I have the recently remastered one for switch (ofc) but somehow it's not quite the same. I ordered the gamecube-esque controller (it's unplayable for me without it) but something still feels off. It does look and sound great though.

Finally finished TotK, now I have moved onto Red Dead Redemption 2 and it's wonderful. Love the voice acting and how well they captured the outdoors

RDR2 has IMO the most realistic world in a game. There are things that happen kind of in the background you have to see to believe.
