Off-Grid energy?
This is possible these days but typically more expensive than many figure at first.

To be completely off grid a home needs a solar + battery system. Solar panels will last for 25 to 30 years depending on warranty.

For off grid regarding inverters: microinverters > string inverter

As far as batteries there are old school deep cycle lead based batteries. These are the least expensive way to go. The batteries need to be babied and don't last as long as newer battery technology. They last 5-10 years.

There is newer battery tech using Lithium Ion (like phones and EV) things like Tesla's PowerWall and a few other brands out there. There is a price premium for these batteries but they come with monitoring software for a complete integrated energy system you can see the energy flow of your home on your smart phone. These last 10 to 15 years.

I would guess that your current kwh rate for electricity is very low. Buying a solar+battery system is like pre-paying for electricity for many years ahead of time.

If you want any more info feel free to PM me.

Cheers
