McCallan 12 yr sherry cask is an ole reliable.
Isn't McCallan the most overpriced marketing whisky? I think Glendronach is a better sherry scotch than McCallan. I wonder what's the best tho. I only know peated scotch of which Ardbeg and Laphroaig are the best...

The McCallan is pretty good stuff. It all comes down to personal taste, but their 18 year Sherry Oak is better than anything you can pull off the shelf in most stores.

I suspect there are many better scotches that aren't internationally marketed / branded, and I don't spend the kind of cash to taste test McCallan's older stuff, but I like that one quite well.

next time i hyperfixate on scotch whisky i wanna go down the accelerated aging methods rabbit hole, couple brands are using stuff like high pressure, ultra sound, smaller barrels..etc

even straight up lab grown.

molecular whiskey
Quote:
This is the most radical approach, sidestepping the barrel-aging process entirely by using science to reverse-engineer spirits.

Endless West (Glyph Whiskey): This company uses analytical chemistry to identify the specific flavor and aroma molecules in traditional whiskies. They then source those molecules from natural sources, such as plants, to reconstruct the flavor profile in a lab, producing spirits without barrel aging
if it tastes great and is cheaper, idc if it's fake.

So I think Ardbeg Corryvreckan and Laphroaig Cask Strength are the best peated Isle of Islay scotch. What are the best sherry scotch? Glendronach and Bunnhabhain?

And at what time of the day do you drink scotch? Is 18:00 late enough? Or do you have a better time of day?

Depends when your villainous expository speech is scheduled for, I suppose.
